Khalida Smalls

Organizing Director, Community Labor United

Khalida joined CLU as Organizing Director in July 2017.  Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts a Black woman of African and Caribbean descent.  Khalida began organizing in 1997 with Alternatives for Community & Environment (ACE) a community based environmental justice organization based in Roxbury, MA.  As an ACE organizer, she helped form Boston’s first public transit riders’ union. Later she joined the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 32BJ District 615.  There she focused on building strategic partnerships with labor, community and faith allies supporting airport workers organizing for standards, the right to organize and fair wages.  A graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She’s currently working towards her Masters Degree in Public Policy at Tufts University’s Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning Department.
