Elena Letona

Executive Director, Neighbor to Neighbor

Elena is a native of El Salvador.  She attended Oberlin College-Conservatory where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance and music history, and the University of Massachusetts Boston where she earned a Master’s and a Ph.D. in public policy. For 10 years, Elena directed Centro Presente, a member-driven, state-wide organization dedicated to achieving the self-determination of the Central and Latin American immigrant community of Massachusetts. In 2005, Elena was chosen as part of the Barr Fellowship inaugural class. Currently, Ms. Letona directs Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N) Massachusetts, a membership organization of low-income and people of color. Its mission is to achieve economic and environmental justice through community organizing, leadership development, legislative advocacy, voter empowerment and movement building. In 2016, Neighbor to Neighbor completed a campaign to shut down a coal plan and transition the site to a solar field.
